My Studio in Photos
Each photo gives a glimpse as to what my studio is all about.

My Desktop
All my teacher needs are at my fingertips. Stickers - paperclips - colored pens and pencils and markers - tape - standard handouts - business cards - post-its - pointers - sketch pads highlighters - mini-certificates ..... even lip balm. hand sanitizer and lens cleaner. I am prepared for almost any teaching situation that may arise.

Student's Piano
All students take their lessons on a high-quality hand crafted and well maintained Petrof piano. In a moment of empathy, I bought a pad for my piano's bench to make lessons a more pleasant experience.

Circle of Fifths
The Circle of Fifths is the E=MC2 of music. It underpins and is a foundational pillar of music theory. I use it all the time to help students understand the music they are learning. It opens up their understanding of much music theory.
Teacher's Piano
My piano is another almost identical Petrof piano. On the top left of the piano is a ceramic bust of a pirate my mom made for me a long time ago. She was my greatest encouragement in becoming a musician and teacher. On top of the piano are several books of pieces I'm currently practicing. The second piano makes teaching so much easier.

Waiting Room
Parents and student's siblings make good use of my Waiting Room. I have a couple tables that students use to do their homework, and adults use to do computer work for their jobs.
My wife bought the wall hanging at our local Goodwill for $10! I think it fits the room perfectly.

Chairs
I keep chairs in my studio, and I recommend that parent listen in on my Keyboard Kids students (preschoolers). It's very helpful for a 4–6-year-old student to have a parent, and sometimes a grandparent, listen in on the lesson to help the student in their practice at home.

Computer and Printer Station
This is the Technology Center of my studio. Here I record and edit student's performances. These performances are posted HERE on this Website. Performance is a major emphasis of my studio. I also have files of the many pieces I've arranged and composed through the years ready for printing. I also have a scanner for important studio uses, like making theory assignments from student's method books.
Metronome and Bluetooth Speaker
The Metronome may be old technology but is still a great teaching tool. Just having students match the metronomes steady ticking is a very valuable exercise.
The Bluetooth Speaker is for giving a high-quality sound to various recordings of compositions the student may be studying. Hearing a full symphonic orchestra playing a piano arrangement of a famous symphonic theme can really inspire a student's imagination

I
Library and Books
These shelves contain only a small inventory of the books I've written through the years. I widely use my Keyboard Kids books and my Discovery Piano System books but I've also written many arrangements of folk songs, preschool materials and solo compositions and arrangements.
Also included in my library are several of my college texts for reference and sight-reading materials for student's use.
Whiteboard
I find that students can better learn and remember things if they experience what they are studying through different experiences. Playing notes is one thing but drawing notes on a whiteboard is an entirely different experience.
Playing music from a printed page is one thing, but writing out that music on a whiteboard requires a totally different kind of thinking.
The Whiteboard is a great teaching tool.
